RoyalistPlay Close Account NZ
A short break, a long cool-off or a permanent closure. Pick the option that fits and we walk you through it in NZ$.
Open Settings
Closing an account should be as quick as opening one. RoyalistPlay does not hide the option behind a maze of confirmation screens, and there is no retention call from a sales team trying to talk you out of it. The flows below describe what each choice actually does, so a Kiwi player can pick the right one the first time and move on with their day.
Three ways to step back
- 1
Short break (24 hours to 7 days)
Locks the account for a fixed window. Cannot be reopened early. NZ$ balance stays in place and is available again automatically when the break ends.
- 2
Cool-off (30 days to 6 months)
A longer pause for when the short break is not enough. Marketing is switched off for the full duration and the account remains locked the entire time.
- 3
Permanent closure
Closes the account for good. Any NZ$ cash balance is returned to your verified payment method before closure is finalised. Re-opening at a later date requires a fresh KYC review and is not guaranteed.
Withdraw before you close
Closure flows include a final cashier step that walks you through withdrawing any remaining NZ$ balance. If you forget, support will reach out within 48 hours to confirm where to send the funds. Nothing is forfeited just because the account is closed.
How to close your account
- Sign in and open Settings, then Responsible Gambling.
- Pick the option that matches what you want: short break, cool-off or permanent closure.
- Confirm the choice. Tightening always takes effect immediately.
- Withdraw any remaining NZ$ balance through the cashier before closure is finalised.
- You will receive a confirmation email summarising what has been done and what happens next.
Picking the right level of break
The three options exist because the reasons for stepping back vary. A short break is the right choice when a single losing session has knocked the fun out of play and you want to come back fresh in a day or two. A cool-off is the right choice when the reason is bigger than one session and you want a longer window of guaranteed distance, with marketing fully silenced and no chance of an impulse top-up. Permanent closure is for when gambling has stopped fitting into your life and the right call is to remove the option entirely.
None of these decisions need to be taken alone. The responsible gambling page lists the New Zealand support services that can talk through the right call with you, and the help centre team can pause the account during the chat if you ask them to. The system is intentionally designed so that the safer choice is also the easier one.
Can I reopen a closed account?
A short break or cool-off ends automatically and the account returns to normal. A permanent closure can only be reversed after a defined wait time and a fresh KYC review. The system is designed this way deliberately so a closure cannot be undone on impulse. Any reopened account starts on a clean bonus history, so previous promotions cannot be re-claimed.
What happens to my bonuses when I close?
Active bonuses are forfeited at the point of closure. Real money in the same wallet is unaffected and is paid out through the cashier as part of the closure flow in NZ$. Future eligibility for welcome offers is not guaranteed if you ever reopen, but the regular reload offers on the promotions page remain available to any active account holder.
Will I keep receiving emails?
Marketing emails stop the moment a break, cool-off or closure is confirmed. Transactional emails such as withdrawal confirmations continue for as long as money is being processed back to you, then stop entirely. Communications preferences are governed by the privacy policy and you can request a copy of any data still held about you at any time.
Is there a phone option to close the account?
Yes. Live chat is the fastest channel, but the team can also handle closure requests over the phone if you would rather speak to someone. The agent will confirm your identity, walk through the options and complete the closure on the call. A confirmation email follows so you have a written record of what was done and when it takes effect.
What happens to my game history and statements?
Game and transaction history is retained for the period the NZ regulatory framework requires, typically several years from closure. During that window you can request a copy at any time through the privacy controls. After the retention period ends the records are deleted in line with the privacy policy and cannot be recovered afterwards.
